IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change
“The IPCC was created to provide policymakers with regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks, as well as to put forward adaptation and mitigation options“- IPCC
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) works to publish comprehensive Assessment Reports detailing the extent of scientific, technical and socio-economic knowledge on climate change and the subsequent options for climate change mitigation.
The sixth Assessment Report, Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change, outlines the developments in emission reduction, the sources of global emissions and examines the efficacy of national climate pledges in relation to long-term climate goals.
Refficiency’s Jon is a lead author on Chapter 11: Industry which describes decarbonising the heavy industrial sector, this sector accounting for 65% of industrial greenhouse gases and over 70% of industrial CO2 emissions. In this chapter new possibilities and technologies for climate change mitigation are explored where energy efficiency remains a key option.
